Në vitin 2021, investigimi i tij për kontrabandën e makinave të luksit, u vlerësua me cmimin "Vangjush Gambeta" nga Unioni i Gazetarëve Shqiptarë, si "raportimi më i mirë ekonomik i vitit". Elvin Luku ka fituar gradën shkencore “Doktor” në Shkenca Komunikimi pranë Departamentit të Gazetarisë & Komunikimit në Universitetin e Tiranës. Ai është autor i librit “Talk show: Para dhe pas ekranit”, një analizë mbi televizionin dhe zhanrin talk show në Shqipëri. Luku është pedagog e kërkues shkencor pranë Departamentit të Gazetarisë e Komunikimit – UT.
